Are you an awesome apprentice architect? A pocket-sized rocket man? A tiny taxi driver? Armed with just cardboard, kiddy scissors, tape and a festival full of children’s imaginations, help us create the Land of Kids’ very own Cardboard Kingdom. Will you build a sky scraper, a racing car, a robot or a brand new invention of your own? And who will be crowned the Cardboard King or Queen? What does YOUR perfect city need?
Hattie Garlick is a writer, director of the Save Childhood Movement, and the blogger behind Free our Kids – a year long resolution to cut cost and commercialism from children’s lives.
Sarah Waites is a mummy, graphic designer, maker, baker and muser. Sarah creates THE most beautiful objects out of cardboard.
Bethan Pearce is a mother and Momma Loves resident super stylist
Pirate School
In association with LOST & FOUND , Bethan Pearce and Momma Loves
So you’ve watched Pirates of the Caribbean, been on the ride, donned an eye patch and bought a parrot, but could you really cut it on the high seas? Famed for their fantastical festival antics and surreal projects, self- confessed “nonsense facilitators” Lost & Found are transforming a space at Land of Kids into their own bona fide Pirate School.
Little folk are invited to channel their inner Long John Silver or Jack Sparrow with challenges, tasks and treasures to test their mettle. Climb the rigging, scrub the deck, and crawl through portholes on the Pirate Assault Course. Show off old Polly with Parrot Crufts.
Test bravery by Walking the Plank, and indulge in all manner of seafaring games and activities such as Port & Starboard, Man Overboard or Eye Patch Making. For all those budding ship captains, boatswains, and powder monkeys, the deck is open and the challenge set! Shiver me timbers, and set sail for glory…
